DOXS NKLN

The DOXS NKLN is being built on the Neuköllner Shipping Canal in Berlin: a former junkyard is being transformed into a “harbor of cultures”, which will benefit both future users and the neighborhood.

Instead of disposing of the existing crane facilities and burdening the environment with additional steel scrap, these witnesses of the local history are integrated into the architectural concept.

The ground floor and the 1. The upper floors form the base area, which opens on all sides with a transparent facade design and thus connects within and outside. This zone is intended for manufacturing, gastronomy, culture and a daycare center, uses that promote a living outdoor space. The floors above are mainly intended for office use with flexible work space units. In the head construction, a hostel will round off the mixed-use concept.

A LASKA

In the immediate vicinity of the Berlin east cross, two innovative office buildings are planned: near the Mediaspree and the Rummelsburg Bay. Both buildings are built in wood-hybrid designs above a basement and base floor in reinforced concrete.

The infrastructure of the buildings is complemented by a café on the ground floor, spacious foyers and internal courtyards that bring light into the lower floors. Roof terraces on both buildings also offer flexible uses for the working environment.

Repton Gardens

Repton Gardens is multibuilding development ranging from seven to 21 storeys and forms part of Quintain’s 85-acre Wembley Park estate next to the iconic Wembley stadium.

It provides 396 build-to-rent homes with gardens, a BBQ area, children’s play and exercise area, yoga/multi-purpose event room, a dedicated work-from home area, as well as resident’s lounges. This is complemented by 1,000 sqm of ground floor retail space as well as a medical centre and GP surgery over 1,200sqm.

We developed detailed “construction-level” 3D models of the three buildings, working closely with the contractor and sub-contractors to deliver exceptionally quality in building services information and drawings.

The Bear

The Bear Church is a new build project in Deptford, originally known as the Deptford Ragged School. The site consists of 688m2 new church facilities with 33 residential units designed as affordable housing.

The residential units are prefabricated using modular construction resulting in excellent thermal insulation and air tightness.

The entire building is served by a communal ground source heat pump system with closed loop boreholes. Micro heat pumps are installed within each residential unit and in the church minimising central plant space.

Ebury Bridge Road

Ebury Bridge Road is a 44-suite care home for the elderly, providing the highest quality of care for elderly people with dementia. The site, formerly used as a petrol station, is adjacent to the Chelsea Barracks development.

The scheme is a fully electric using air source heat pumps to provide 100% of the space heating and domestic hot water demand with photovoltaics at roof level.

Kodak Building

The former Kodak headquarters in Harrow, London is undergoing a low-energy, refurbishment and extension. The project comprises a 6,300m2 3-storey office refurbishment and two floor office extension.

The energy strategy for the project includes cost-effective demand-control ventilation with heat recovery, daylight harvesting lighting control and space heating via air-source-heat-pumps powered by solar PV.

The project also includes a new atrium feature, located in the former open courtyard, which allows for natural daylight and natural ventilation.

This also helps the office to become more ‘biophillic’ through the introduction of biodiversity features in the heart of the building enhancing occupant wellbeing.

Paxton House

Paxton House is the award-winning transformation of a derelict former 1960s office building into a 43 flat sustainable residential block. It was awarded the prestigious Architect’s Journal retrofit award in September 2018. Building services design included a number of features such as centralised plant, renewable energy generation and movement-activated LED strips which light walkways throughout the building.
